It should work prior to the OS loading. Most wireless keyboards do not require drivers as the transponder decodes on the fly so the computer thinks its just a wired device.
I am running the Lenovo mini wireless keyboard and I like it, however I wish I would have seen the Rii before buying it.
Yes the Rii keyboard works prior to the OS. That was something I needed for my install.

is the one i use, but unfortunately, not use lol. i've gotten so used to the on screen keyboard that i hardly even pull the physical keyboard out anymore, it just seems to be of no use at all. i'm also selling it for much cheaper if anyone is interested =]
I am using a Keysonic ACK-340BT

This keyboard caught my eye: http://dsi-keyboards.com/wirelessmin...hpadmouse.aspx
Does anyone use one of these?? It has a KB (obviously), touchpad, and 9 hot keys.
Does this device eliminate the need for a space navigator, powermate, etc..??? I don't own a SN, so i can't comment.
I have two.
Gyration Pro
only use the keyboard from the package.
And one for the playstation
For quick use I have the playstation one in my centre compartment.
For more prolonged use (read stationary) I use the gyration one, which sits int basket behind the passenger seat.
For normal day to day use with a touchscreen and a good frontend OSK, no.
But then most systems are built on Windows, so you know it's going to screw up at some point and you are going to need a keyboard to rescue you.
As for mouse, I have a thumbmouse hidden in my ashtray.
