JoyCon EX, EXR, EXD - What's the difference?

I noticed there seem to be three different versions of the device (http://www.rcjoycon.com/base_3/menu_10.php?menu=10) and it's not entirely clear what the differences are between the three. Can anyone clarify how they are different?

Here's what I know so far:

    • JoyCon EXR: Supports vehicles with resistive input controls.
    • JoyCon EXD: Supports vehicles with digital input controls (as well as resistive).
    • JoyCon EX: Product description makes it look like it isn't any different than the EXR. Is there a difference? Confused!

Don't mean to threadjack, but i would like to know if a joycon device (and which one in particular) will work with my 2013 Kia Optima Hybrid. Please and thank you.
