so my carpc's small 7" screen is a pain to use for tuning. and this was my motivation. i used a 13.3" android 4.1 tablet, a Linksys wireless router, an old dc-dc power supply from an earlier version of my carpc, and a $15 remote desktop app from google play store that uses windows remote desktop protocol. the router is mounted on the rear deck behind the back seat.
Why not just use a flat screen monitor as a second screen on your PC instead of a remote desktop?
Or a USB monitor which could be unplugged easily.
wireless. also because i am using the tablet's capacitive touch input. my carpc will support multiple displays with hdmi or display port. and the video card in my carpc is the single most power hungry component in my build, by far. in my life, i can't be bothered by a usb monitor. seriously. the reason my carpc's desktop doesn't fit on the tablet is because my carputer is running at 1920x1080 res and the tablet is 1280x800. the lillyput hdmi touchscreen scales the image beautifully, but remote desktop client, maybe not so much.
and i gotta use this opportunity to point out to any other lillyput hdmi touchscreen owers that if you really want to see your monitor shine and display a crisper image than you ever thought possible, connect it via hdmi to a high end video card. or a built gaming rig and watch a blue ray, or play a game at max settings at 1920x1080res.
another obvious benefit to the CarNetwork is wifi file sharing between driod and pc and phone.
