It's different from irman. It's IRDA. It's designed for high speed wireless comms. Usually runs on a different frequency to normal remote controls.

Hi
I noticed your post about IR frequencies and was wondering. Do you know what the standard frequency is for a laptop? Specifically a Thinkpad T20? I want to use that on remote with my laptop but don't know if they match or anything else about it.
Anu suggestions?
Peter
http://www.irda.org may answer all your questions. I think you'll have trouble making an irda device work with a conventional remote control.
