    Griffin Powermate

    Anyone have this problem? I have installed the current drivers, I have installed the current software, and for SOME reason, the darn thing just WILL NOT WORK Grrr!

    Here is what happens. I can get it to work, but when I reboot, it doesn't work anymore, UNLESS I unplug it and replug it back in. This makes no sense to me at all.

    I have an EPIA M10000 Nehemia, and I'm running WinXP, with a DSCUSTOMS 7'' Touchscreen. I really can't have this setup where I have to unplug and replug it in each time I start the car. GRR!

    Everytime I reload my carputer I have this problem. The install sucks...

    This is what you do to fix it. Whatever OS you're running goto the hardware or device manager. Look under Universal Serial bus controlers. You will see the Griffin powermate there. Right click and select update driver. Select "Install from a list or specific location". Browse to the DIR. you installed the griffin software and it should install the correct drivers for it...or at least That's how I remember it going...

    That was the only way that I could get it to work at all, but it still requires me to unplug and replug it in each time I start the computer. I think you are right, and that it's just ****ty software/hardware. I'm pretty sure these things are designed for Macs, so I guess they just don't care about us lowly PC users. I'm gonna call Griffin up tomorrow and make some noise, see what I can get accomplished. Probably not much, but it can't hurt to try.

    I did exactly what their PDF file says to do, and it enables the thing to at least work, but it still requires an unplug+replug combo to get it working on a restart.

    Defiler does your Powermate work correctly now? Windows recognizes it when it loads up ?

    Hi!
    Iīm having quite similar setup: M10000,Xenarc 700YYV,Opus,TDK Bluetooth USB dongle,Royaltec RPM 2000 GPS USB, Creative Webcam USB etc.
    I have similar symptoms sometimes but the situation got lot better when i hooked all the other USB-gadgets into USB-hub (Generic, the brand was Trust if i remember right) but the PowerMate directly to the mobo. (When I hooked the PM into USB hub it didnīt work almost at all.)
    Before it did the blackout every day, now only once a week. But yes it is more than frustrating when you have to dive into foot compartment and rip off cables under car mats just to reconnect. I even thought designing a simple relay box with usb connectors which cuts the power off from PM for a second every time i turn the ignition key or simply conect the relay to opusīs remote pin.

    I personally love that little piece of alumnium if only it would be technically at same level as the craftmanship. Also once it works it is extremely useful in the car. (Changing track in MP3 player, zooming in and out in GPS software, starting and stopping the webcam, changing the top-most software (alt+tab) and so on)
