Anyone see this at avsforums.com about using NetRemote on a PPC to control your PC?

    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=230408

Looks like an ideal way to control Girder through BT and a PPC. I'm seriously looking into this option and picking up an iPaq 1940 with BT, using it with Girder and MyHTPC.

Anybody got to use a form of VNC on a PDA.

I am planning to use PalmVNC over bluetooth to control my CarPC.

    Cheers,

Well "hi" to you too. I guess what I am looking for is for your impressions on it. Is it reliable? Can you "Wake-from-Lan"? Do you find the screen refresh rate tolerable?

    Thanks,

    Alric

Anyone here know how to program or know any progrmmers? This is very simple. You all have PDA's seemingly. So you write a VERY simple program that connects via Wireless network through "Winstock" or some TCP version of a network interface. You'll have a peer1 (Your in-car computer) and a peer2 (Your PDA). Peer2 tells peer1 to "play". Peer1's DDE program sends the "play" command to either WinAMP or Windows media player. It's that easy. You can have 1000 commands if you wanted. I'm doing the same thing. Accept mine isn't just going to run my in-car computer, it's going to run activate switches and servos throughout my car too. But I could write a program for you people like that in less than a week. Not only would it be simple, but you can customize the look of it on the PDA so it looks like what ever you want. No name brand manufacturers leaving their names all over your car. Just straight out customizing. You want show?... That's show.

Don't get lazy people. If you're going to put all that work into it, do it right. If you're using WinCE, you have the biggest advantage. Simply set the encryption for your wireless network and run the program on your CE.

me and my mate programed something for my sony ericsson t68i, (well mostly my mate) its an interface that has all the standard controlls of winamp, plus search functions (think winamp jump), loading playlists, bass treble controls etc. putting it in my car tomorow, hooked up the amps and sub today

Sounds good, but how does the interface look like on your t68i? I use christtensen.org's bluetooth remote program and its been working fine.

Remote amp is really cool, but only works with WinAmp. It would be cool to have a full functional remote! The only thing with a pda is that you have to use two hands.

    NetRemote

What you are looking for (as mentioned by someone before) is NetRemote. It runs on my Ipaq and uses standard Pronto .ccf files to give you 2-way WiF-based control/feedback to your carpc. It can use Girder on the PC as the pc-based control program. I have been using it for the past 1.5yrs on my HTPC. It is very flexible and powerful. Here's the website:
    http://www.netremote.org

There's quite a bit of support on the NetRemote & Girder forum pages.

    Good Luck!
