heres some help with vnc when u connect it works with my p800

The secret was the loopback setting in the registry. On my PC the setting is called "AllowLoopback", it's set to DWORD 1 and it is at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\ORL\\WinVNC3.

vnc is gud but a bit slow thru blueteeth, i found bemused.com much better though, i wanna know if any1 has tried bemused yet? how can we intergrate it to frodo player

...so this may have derailed the vnc effort, unless someone can tell me a good way to trick windows into giving itself an ip address without being connected to anything. (or wiring up some kind of trick cable...) Any ideas?
You should be able to edit the ip address with the network disconnected. And set up a network protocol for peer to peer. It should let you set the pc up as host. I'm pretty sure you can do it all in the wireless network setup wizard too. Just assign it an IP manually. I'm playing with it now, and I can set up all this stuff in xp while i'm not connected to a network.

Microsoft did not include a DHCP Server in most of its latest operating systems for a simple reason: no one would need to buy their expensive Backoffice junk.
Very easy to rectify with a nice free third party DHCP server that runs as a windows XP service.

Here is a little screen shot of the AIVMS Lite PPC Remote, can anyone guess what it happens to be controlling?
I assume you're using this for PocketPC?

A company called NoviiRemote (http://www.noviiremote.com) offers quite inexpensive software ($15 - $20 USD) that allows you to turn any old Palm or WinCE device into a highly customizable universal remote control.

You can customize the user interface for each virtual remote control.

It can also be run from an SD expansion card or a Memory Stick - works on PalmOS and WinCE/PocketPC.

This is an IR solution, and not as robust as some others that have been mentioned, but perhaps worth a look. I tried it and it worked great on all of my household devices.

...played with it for about 30 mins before giving up. Could you tell me exactly how you did this? Whenever I tried to make a new connection (then chose Direct connection and set the computer as the host), it wouldn't allow mochappp to run, and still also wouldn't give itself an ip address.

Are you using a palm or pocketpc?

I still think physically tricking the computer into thinking it's plugged in would work..anyone have any ideas on how to wire an ethernet cable to do so?

...another cool old app is palmamp, which I'm playing with...unfortunately it crashes every time you try to exit it (but hey, it still works..) ...something about a null pointer (specifically an unlocked chunk of memory was allocated with memhandlenew but not locked with memhandlelock...or was locked then unlocked...but I don't have access to the source files to the palmamp apps...so I can't play with it, I don't think. If anyone has the source files for this or happens to program in the Palm OS, let me know).

...would be sweet if palmamp didn't crash.

This would be good for "household" devices but I thinks some of us are looking to control front-ends and other app that are link to it.

    Thanks anyway.......
