MP3 Remote from Creative Labs would probably be very usefull to people who only want music and don't want to mount a display in their car.
The rf remote has an LCD display that lets you select the music from the computers playlist. It will work over an existing 802.11x network or connect via USB and doesn't require a sound card.
I bumped into this at Circuit City last night and they only wanted $199 for it. It's listing on the website for $249.
