If I understood Gore's problem, he needs a "release" event on the plugin so that the unit sends "0.0.0.0" when the button is pressed... is that implemented and simply not working on his side, or just not part of the plugin?

Sorry, I was on vacation for a week. Download it again. I've got a "0:0:0:0" in there now. I had the logic in there, but not really implemented. I don't exactly understand girder too much so try it and let me know if that's right. I could also change that to something like the last value released like:
    "-50:0:0:0" - press
    "-50:0:0:1" - repeat
    "-50:0:0:2" - release
Would that be better or worse?

it can be better I think

or can made the choice in config :
    - return to "0" on release
    - send a release ":2" event

    very good job

So for this thing, it plugs into the game port and in order for it to work with a usb converter, you have to add a resistor?

Since I suck at soildering, how much would one of you charge to modify one?

Heezzi, you will need 2 120K resistors either way. Connecting those between 5V and the X and Y input (even without the sony stick) will supply somewhere around 2.5V to X and Y and act as a basic joystick to make the windows driver see a valid 2 axis joystick connected and centered (sort of) so it will load. Then with the sony stick connected and a button pressed it's like the 120K + another resistor in parallel lowering the resistance (each button is a different value and no press = open or 120K).

Soldering is learned through practice. Do it 100 times and you'll be good at it. I really think this is an important skill to have if you're going to be around here!

Finally finished reading the whole thread! (ie, skimmed it... )
I'm quite interested in this myself, although my electronics skills amount mostly to changing the odd fuse on a mains plug...

Afraid that even if we post our own gml it wont help you. I used the gml that frodo posted and added the commands. The values that the sony joystick returns change acording to the way you set up the plugin. It's very simple, you just have to expand the relevant command, press the learn button and the just press the correct button on the sony.
