TouchScreen Kits

Has anyone added the TouchScreen to their existing screens?? How well does it work?? Did adding the TouchScreen alter the appearence of your screen at all?? Would it be better to go this route and get a better screen and add Touch Feature to it or would it be better to just buy a all-in one touch screen already like xenarc or lilliput????

Trying to gather some ideas as to which route I am going to take..

The touchscreens on the xenarc lilliput are exactly the same as some of the addon ones you can buy so the only difference between what you do and what you buy already done is how well you mount it, but it shouldn't be hard to match the mounting of what you get already done. Depending on the screen, it might be hard to fit it in the original case since it wasn't made for it, but if your not using the case, then I wouldn't see any drawbacks to adding your own.

The touchscreen will take away from the brightness dramatically expect to lose about 150 nits. This is regardless of whether you get it with the screen or do it yourself.

Where are you going to find a better screen then the xenarc or the lilliput? If you can do better I would recommend going that route.

Im toying with the idea because I can get some decent screens ad cheap prices, would probbly be 100$ less per screen even after adding the touch screen to it.... I might just pull the trigger and get a lilliput instead though..

i just orderd a 15" touch kit. adding it to my 15" LCD ill tell you how it works

Huh!? Not even close. Most touchscreen kits you only lose about 10-15%

Yes, I have added touchscreens to many different LCD's. It is MUCH easier to buy one with the touchscreen attached unless you WANT to do everything on your own, custom (like a 9" 16:9 or something). It can be difficult to attach the touch overlay without trapping dust or getting fingerprints on the layers (which will drive you nuts I promise). It is generally a little cheaper to do it yourself.
