MECI PS/2 Trackpoint Stick Mouse Review/INFO

oK, just picked up a few of the PS/2 stick pointers from MECI today, figured I would post some basic info about it.

    http://www.meci.com/default.asp?part...n=&mode=Search

the unit itself measures exactly 3" x 1.25"
as you can see from the pictures, the top buttons and stick is nothing but molded rubber, no electronics. its not perfectly visable from the pictures, but it appears that the stick sensor pad can be easily separated from the main board with 5 large solder points. the pad itself measures .75" x 1". if this is the case, then it would be very easy to mount this thing just about anywhere.
the unit itself uses a serial connection, and comes with a serial=>p/s2 adpater.
also included in the box is a fullsize OEM integration manual, which includes jumper settings, pin settings, and a full electrical diagram of the board.

Price: when i got to the store, they were marked $14.95. when they realized that their website said $9.95, they marked them all down for me. they also told me that the price online and in store would be going up to $14.95 on monday. I am going back sunday to pick up another one or two for myself (in case I screw up trying to remote the touch pad).

anyway, thats all the info i have for now, till i have time to try and seperate the pointer pad. I attached a few pictures for you to the idea of things with.

    EDIT:
helps to actually attach the files

    Thumbs up got mine today!!!

mine just came in, i had to buy 2 to get to the minimum, and they charge you for shipping + handling so my total was like 34 dls (i also bought this starter kill kit for $4), but it's okay, this saves me from buying the touchscreen kit (which I hate anyway )

    yeah, 9.95+9.95 = 19.90, not quite the $20 minimum :P

i'm REALLY liking the factt hat it looks like you can separate the tick pointer from the main board.... with that done, you could mount the thing practically ANYWHERE, even inside a shifter knob (altougth i definately wouldnt recomend it - increased vibration would probably keep it moving constantly)
