    Laptop Keyboard Extender?

I am looking for a laptop keyboard extender(If one exists) for my compaq laptop. For some strange reason the laptop will not auto boot to tv-out so I have to press the fn+f3 combination on the laptop itself in order for this to be achieved. I have tried to use a regular keyboard for this but the laptop will not recognise the fn key on a regular keyboard. Any help in my delima would be appreciated.

love your icon! did you check your BIOS to set what the default monitor is? I know my Dell will save to BIOS the last screen setup (laptop LCD only, laptop LCD & external, external only)

Thanks! As for the bios settings, they actually do not have any setting for booting tv-out. The only real setting they have is either pal or ntsc for the tv-out.

Have you looked to see if there is a BIOS upgrade for it? The option may be there in a newer BIOS.

If no easy solution is found just isolate the cable that goes to the keyboard and either buy a new longer one from digikey or make your own custim cable. It cant be that hard

what resolution do you have the laptop set at?

try setting it around 800x600..some linux stuff i read about people using your model laptop had problems with the TV-out port cause they had it set to 1024x768

in addition if that does not work, there are some thread on here related to what you are going through to find a FN key either through software or hardware:

I'm using an older Compaq laptop and the BIOS has an option to which screen it should boot (it actually can be set on automatic and it senses when the external screen is attached). My advice to you is not to extend the keyboard itself, but rather extend the two buttons
