the powermate is crap, i have one if you want to buy it, but the powermate only looks cool, its actual usefullness is very limited. The ideal device would be this http://www.3dconnexion.com/spacetraveler.htm
but the problem with this is, it cost 600 bucks. Its made for use with 3D apps, and although i work in 3D for a living, 600 bucks is crazy for this. I wonder how many of these they actually sell because out of all the people i know working games\vfx houses etc, i dont know one person that owns one.
Just wondering if anybody made a cheaper non 3d market version.

Has anyone used the shuttle xpress. It seems pretty cool. If you have used it, what has your experience been? Is it functional and how difficult is the installation?
This may be a good alternative to powermate.

    4-3/8" Round according to:

    http://www.filmwareproducts.com/ContourAVS/SXPRS.html

Looks like it runs for around $50.

The equivalent to BMW's iDrive would be Microsoft Windows: both have lots of bugs and have great difficulty sometimes doing what you want them to.

Im mostly talking about the hardware controller in the center console, not the OS BMW is using or any of that extra stuff.
