Unhappy Packard Bell Fast Media Remote problem

Do any of you use this remote?
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT
I just got it and no software seems to work with it except WIRC.
I would love to buy WIRC, but the developer did not reply to my emails and I am afraid that if I send the money to him using PayPal he might never send me the software.

I know it's not a good thing to ask, but could any of you send me the WIRC program? My system is too slow to use WinLIRC (remote learning problems) and others don't work without the LIRC thing. So WIRC is my only chance.
    Can anyone help?

    Nevermind!
Boy, am I lucky to be Russian!
Just found a plugin for Girder written by some Russian guy that seems to work perfectly with the remote! Gosh, I feel so happy I am going camping with a lot of friends on Saturday and I wanted to impress them with my carputer. Now I have that chance

    woah!
I've had one of these things for a long time sitting in my closet, never really knew where the hell it came from or what it was for... never really cared either.
I saw the PB logo and some media buttons so I thought it might be for some proprietary media program that PB put out.... maybe I'll get some use out of it now.

    why not try this?

    http://www.snapstream.com/products/firefly/

It is RF and has its own large screen interface.

FireFly is great, but for those of us who have bought Packard Bell - here's the deal:

    1. First download a program called Girder (IMO, the best remote software out there) from www.girder.nl
    2. Download girder plugin called "Igor SFH56-device" by Igor Cesko from the same website
    3. Put the plugin (DLL file) in the girder\plugins directory
    4. Start up girder, go to settings > plugins, find the Igor plugin, activate it, press Apply
    5. Once it's loaded into memory go ahead and configure it. Select the com port and a few other things for your remote (I think the only other thing is the device type, PB remote is a DCD or something like that)
    6. Click ok and start using Girder!
Packard Bell remote isn't very strong (about 5 meters range) but it learns the very first time in Girder. My remote does everything, from being a mouse to being a WinAmp remote. It also shuts down/hibernates my computer and the list goes on.

I was very frustrated for the last two days since I could not get it to work and I will definitely need it on Saturday since I'm going camping with friends. Thanks to the Igor SFH56-device plugin it's all possible I think there are many people out there that can't get this remote to work, so this thread (once indexed by the search engines) should be helpful to them

PS: with this plugin you can use ANY remote with the Packard Bell or any other serial IR receiver. Very cool - I can have different remotes do different things

PPS: BTW, for those who are interested, the developer of WIRC replied, which means that you can buy it too. It's cheaper than Girder, but provides less flexibility.
