Any one had trouble with it in thier carputer only?

I have the original one. It's wired up and seems to work alright on my laptop and desktop, but it wont work on my carputer. Via epia M2 12000.\
I tried the drivers posted previously, but I just got an error message.

Is there some obscure setting I haven't been able to find to enable the ps2 port maybe?

    Thanks.

Got it working! All I had to do was remove touchmon from windows startup and reboot. Windows then recognized my alps touchpad and allowed me to install the driver.

Now if only I can get the touchscreen from freezes with BT or GPS in action.

Well, had successfully wired the first one today.

I suck big time at soldering, and of course, I trashed 2 touchpadís trying. The twisty tie thing didnít work too, very random contacts. Give up and gave a few days to think things out.
Today I was replacing an IDE drive and I found myself staring at the 80 conductorís flat cable.
I just cut 10 conductors off the cable to fit the touchpad connector. I cut off the plastic isolation in one side of the ( now small ) flat cable till the copper was clearly visible and stuck that end to the connector. I separated the conductors on the other end and did a few continuity tests. I found several combinations off conductors/pins, but could get 5 of the pins. The Ground didnít work but thatís no problem since is very easy to get it from the touchpad itself.
Then I just hot glued to the Touchpad and soldered the mouse cable. Works fine.

I will confirm this tomorrow by making a few more and taking and posting some pics.

    Pin 4 -- GND

When I did it, I chopped a PS2 extender and used it to solder to, the wire colors on mine were as follows (note this is probably not true for all ps2)

    Black -- DATA
    Red -- GND
    Orange -- VCC - +5
    Yellow -- CLK

Also, I've taken hcker2000 pic, and edited it to show where I connected each of my wires (hope he doesn't mind). Again I'll warn that it is a large pic.
    hope that helps someone
When you say black cable, do you mean the thin black one or the thick black one? I've just gotten my goldmine one today

Bravellir, you might have trouble with the hot glue coming loose. I tried superglue, and one of the wires lost contact. If you do another one, go with some sort of epoxy to be sure that it won't come undone. Good job getting it working though, its a pretty big pain.
