    PS2 DVD Controller ??? can i use it for car-pc ????

Hi . I have a wireless PS2 DVD Controller just like this one ......

http://www.us.playstation.com/periph...?id=SCPH-10420 . It has a IR Receiver (plug to controller socket) .

My question is , can i use it as my car-pc input device ? Do i have to make any code or install some software to make it possible ? About the IR Receiver , i have to buy an USB IR Receiver right ?

    Example of USB IR Receiver

    BTW , i'm using MediaCar .

Okay okay . Already understand a bit about girder and uICE . I downloaded uICE and it's very user-friendly program . easy to use . But my problem is , i don't have any of their IR Receiver . can i use a USB IRDA receiver just like in the picture .

Don't waste your money. You could build one yourself with very little effort.

Be sure to make the difference between ir for data comunication (like PDA, laptops and printers have) and ir for remotes!

There's a difference and some, but certainly not all are compatible.

Its unlikely that the USB device you show will work as it is an IRDA one and the frequency used in remotes is different. You can buy a few types of IR recievers meant for remote controls - they have become much more popular in recent years due to HTPCs etc but you can build one very cheaply. Do a search on UIR, UIR2 and UIRT (which can also transmit) - i am bit rusty on the progress of this DIY one as I made mine back in 2001 and it has worked perfect for me ever since using girder.
