i am making BT one without backlight
as the keypad was powered by Li battery, no more power drawn
My PC will be mounted in my trunk. I understand BT doesn't require Line of site but before I blow my wad on a BT mouse and keyboard has anyone had (or not had) success with a similar configuration? Similar comments regarding RF would be helpfull.
Also, has anyone seen a backlit BT keyboard?

I have my BT dongle in the trunk and it pairs with my phone through the seats.
BT is FM, so it will go trough your seats. With metal between it you'll have to test it... the signal can be weaker.
I've tested mine up to 15m out of the car with the doors closed!!!
It's range is 100m!!!
save yourself some money and buy RF keyboard and mouse combo instead of BT
This was the original plan but so many gizmos are coming out with BT I figure it might be good for gizmo expansion. I wonder if there is a BT microphone. Off to look.Originally Posted by mpattonm

Let me tell you, bluetooth is wonderful. Yes it will go through your seats just fine. It has a range of 30 feet, not 100m like someone else said. If you bought a regular RF keyboard, you can only use the keyboard. If you buy a bluetooth USB dongle for $25 you can use it for a ****-ton of stuff.
Yes, there is. I own one. Just get a bluetooth headset, it has a earpiece and mic. I use mine when using GPS in the truck and don't want to disturb others, or when I am trying to navigate and others want to listen to music. Works great with SA2005 and iGuidance (with the voice add-on made by a fellow mp3car member).Originally Posted by justICE
Can you set up the PC so that the headset can perform all the functions of a regular microphone?Originally Posted by voidunknown
edit: specifically for voice control software.
