    Hi

Don't know if this is the right place to post.
    I have got a Pioneer AVIC X1 HU sat\nav, dvd, mp3.
I also have a cd changer (6cd) fitted, this is connected useing the
    IP-BUS.

I have tryed putting a mp3 cd into the changer, but i don't get anything on the display, no folders or track list I have been told that it needs to be an mp3 cd changer.

here we go: I have been looking for a cd changer that can play mp3 cd's
that will replace the one i got, but it must be IP-BUS wired.
After weeks of looking, it looks like Pioneer don't do an mp3 cd changer!! but most other makes do, but not with IP-BUS system.

What i would like to know, is there a way to interface to the IP-BUS system so that i could use another make of cd changer that can play
    mp3 cd's ?

Maybe i could be one of the ten people wanting Pioneer adapter!!

    Thanks for reading this

I may dissapoint you but afaik IP bus does not allow you to specify folders or even track names. Even though you will be able to select all those tracks, it will be nameless.

    [edit]
I just took a look at IP Bus. It seems it is possible to send track names. So if HU supports that, it will be displayed

    Hi

just a quick one, does an mp3 cd changer have a mp3 decoder
    built in to it ?

If so, whould this provide the info to give track names ?

As with normal audio cd's it do give the track info on to the
    display of the HU.

    Thanks

mp3 changers decode most of the info from mp3 files. They are able to send back track names but this feature depends on your HU. If it supports that, then you'll see it. Some protocols such as MBus or PBus does not provide such a functionality. IP Bus has it and I've seen people doing it.

I swear i was looking for this last week and couldn't find anything. Anyways, SWEET!!! I was going to try and design an AI-net version, but i guess i will wait for you to build them . One question, how do you get audio back to the alpine. your pictures dont show rca or stereo plug. shouldn't there be audio from the pc to the adapter so that the audio can be connected to the m-bus cable? or do you splice the audio in seperate.

Also, my alpine has XM control capabilites through the AI-net. i'm not sure if that would give me more features then a HU without.

Several people have asked and im not sure if i saw a response. Why not RS232 control? My carpc has two usb ports and I was going to use them for wireless and gps control. but I would have four rs232 ports open.(yes four on board)

Anyways, really cool! i can get rid of my video screen....i cant read the damn text anyways!

p.s. how much longer until m-bus is ready for sale?
Um, I guess this is where you put something witty.WITTY

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply

My HU can play mp3 cd's with the internal deck, and i can get track info

What i would like to know, is there a way to interface to the IP-BUS system so that i could use another make of cd changer that can play mp3 cd's ?
and will you be making something that can do this ?.

    Thanks again

M-Bus is on sale now. So it is ready. See the first post. For MBus audio come directly from either 3.5'' jask or 2 RCA into DIN8C just let me know which one you need.
If you can start with AiNet please don't forget about check sum algorithm and its high speed.
As of RS232 I want to see the PC knowing what changer it connected to. This way USB is more flexible.

Ok, ok. I'll start working on IPBus<->USB converter. Will update everyone next Monday on status.
