I posted this on another thread but thought it might be better posted here.

Has anyone tried to rip apart an alpine cd changer with AI-net. Maybe there is a simple way to remove the ai-net circuit and connect to lpt port or rs232. Even if you needed a microcontroller, it might be easier then trying to completely emulate the AI-net. I dont know.....just an idea. Ive been trying to figure out how to do this for a coupel days now.

I would like to put a scope on the ai-net and see if I could emulate it. I just dont want to hassel with pulling my alpine from my car and digging my changer out of the closet and hooking them up. Maybe im lasy....no...im lasy

Maybe ill rip my changer apart and look at what chips it uses. Probably a dsp of fpga controller. Then all you would have to do is rip the firmware off of it. and use that to program new chips . im rambling, cya. And good luck to anyone that comes up with a better solution.

Okay i ripped it apart. Not all the way but enough to see the pinout.
This is my first try at this so it will look like crap.

Anyways maybe this will help someone else. Might be an easy rs485 control. I will try to look more into this.

I broke my cd changer . Two screws held the slider pot in place and it broke off. But i did see the AI processor on the board. Its a 100 pin smt chip. cant find it online, so probably cant buy them. Back to emulating it i guess. Now that my unit is broke.

Anyone have cd changer parts they want to sell. cstrachn@comcast.net part number 850E 3 pin slider pot.

p.s. ill stop using up this thread

I just took a look at the protocol and think it is pretty simple to do. I will run another thread soon with the status track.

    Great invention

    Hi,

I return to this thread after quite some time... I am very excited about this and i am wondering if I could see the unit in action (video etc).

Also, whats the news on the AINET one?

I would have to find some time to shoot the video, edit it and things. Just little busy right now. For sure it will get done once I redesign my project site. AiNet is being investigated. I will prioritize IPBus vs AiNet once I have more info on both.

No I don't beleive so. At least all M-Bus devices I tested it with were asking for some data to be sent every once in awhile.
