Have you started to look at a pioneer IP-Bus version yet jbors? Wouldn't it be easier to just modify the work done by vitat at http://www.vitat.spb.ru/eng/index.php?L1=ip-bus , rather than starting from scratch? I'm going to knock up a version of vitat pioneer cd changer emulator next month and see if I can work out how to change it for a standard PC control.

Once I master that, I'm going to have a go and hacking it to work with my mstation/neo35 car mp3 player.

I'll probably never get it working though, because my skills are in IT and not electronics :-(

I think on the front of this thread there should be a little explanation of what this device auctally does and how it works.

I read the whole of this thread and I'm still not sure what it does. Do you tell it a folder where your mp3's are stored and then it will play, FF,FW,RW, etc? Or will it control a front end?

I'm guessing the device doesn't support displaying the tag names of the mp3 on the HU.

For future updates. it would be nice if I could control frodoplayer from the headunit. Also while frodoplayer is playing the mp3's it would be nice to display the tag information on screen.

The MBus HU cannot display informaton coming from the MBus in a textual form, so you have to rely on track number and disk number instead. This way playlists can be used instead of folders.
Please see the first page again as I made an update to it. I will publish all the info I have this weekend.

How does the adapter connect to your PC? do we have to buy any other cables to get this to work? You havent included a USB cable in the photo on pg 1.

jbors, I like what you're doing, especially since I'm a loyal Alpine consumer. Any suggestions on how I could get a PC to "listen" to an ai-net HU so I can begin "decoding" the protocol? I assume you had to do this at some point during this project. Any advice you could offer me would be hugely benneficial. And, by the way, if you ever develop an adapter that is fully ai-net compatible, I would be very interested. Thanks in advance!
