You can use "simple" AUX adapter. I'm not aware of any other simple way of getting AUX to work. MBus protocol very demanding to a sequence from CDC.
Hope this helps.
I do not have a car computer and all I have is an MP3 player (actually a Pocket PC). I have a 1996 Honda Civic with factory head unit and factory tape deck. After a little googling I have discovered that this uses M-Bus - in fact it is the same except that the plug has two pins switched to encourage users to buy Honda equipment and not Alpine equipment (more $$$ for dealer). It is an 8 pin circular DIN connector, you can see it at http://carstereohelp.net/images/Wire...sHon121001.jpg
As I said I don't have a car computer. So there's no point in using complicated USB chip as mentioned earlier in this thread. All I want to do is have the head unit detect presence of "CD player" (the MP3 player) (and thus start playing audio from it).
Connecting the three audio pins to a 3.5 mm audio connector seems obvious. But I don't know what's required in getting the head unit to start playing audio from these audio pins. Do I have to use a simple resistor or something? Is something more elaborate required?
Basically: how to get auxiliary input into M-Bus input port with as little equipment as possible?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Right, but how might you go about building "simple" AUX adapter? Is it fairly simple (e.g. a resistor, if that) or do you have to do something more complicated?
Also, the head unit is from 1996 Honda Civic. Is there any chance it would use AI-Net instead of M-Bus, or would the unit be too old for this? It's a very simple head unit and all it can do is switch CDs in the CD changer and move between tracks. It tells you basic track information (track count, probably length). It's really simple.
You may try to play with it. As far as I know there is _no_ simple resistor that works for MBus. It has to be a certain sequence you send to HU.

any updates on ip-bus?
man, you are going to be filthy rich, very soon.
yeah I second Ip-bus
again....
Sorry. really busy with VAG adapters now. I will work on that for sure. Cannot just say when...

Can't wait till the ip-bus adapter is done thanks for all your hard work![]()
The IP Bus will be great, keep up the awesome work...
I will sell you my soul for one of these convertors.
/ip-bus, that is
