MBus works fine on prototype board and I'm still waiting for SO->DIP adapter to come to solder the real chip on real board.
So how are things going so far mate?

Yes, please try out the AiNet headunit with MBus CDC or vise versa. I saw the cable and it seems straight pass through.

Hi jbors, noticed a lot of activity ont hsi thread this week and thought i would say hi and see if you had any info on the sony unilink as i remember you being intrested a few months back.
I have just got a Sony XR-C9100R tape head unit. It has the usual CD/MD changer control as well as having a full set of pre-outs (front, back and sub) and joystick remote and voice control with a good mic! I am looking at building the standard PIC based gnunilink fom here: http://gnunilink.sourceforge.net/ and am very pleased that the www.cus.og.uk site is back up and i already have (just dug it out of a box) this PIC programmer from my UIRT build several years ago http://www.jdm.homepage.dk/newpic.htm so hopefully i will have a working unilink in a couple of weeks.
I am pretty sure i can just run girder to take the HU controls into my frontend (any thoughs on this) but i am concerned about getting the track data to the HU and wondered if the software you are developing will be adaptable to do this.
Cheers
Andy
Wow! Thread Jack!
He's building an Alpine M-Bus Adaptor, no mention of Sony here! There seems to be more info on the sony protocol than alpine...

Sorry if i sound antsy, but i've got a couple questions and i'm dying of anticipation. How is the production coming along? How well did the Mbus work on an AI-Net HU? What would be needed besides this cable to allow it to work (for example: Special media player, Media to be placed in a special part of the hard drive)? Still on track for next week as far as your going to start selling them? Any news is appreciated.
MBus should work fine with all AiNet units. Even though I cannot prove it right now, I saw some posts saying that. Next week I'll order first 5 PCBs, so it will be ready in 10 days from that.

It aint a flaming thread jack at all! The alpine and sony protocols may only be similar but the outputting of track info to the serial port is what i am interested in and i am hoping this thread can help! And as Jbors is active on this at the moment and expressed an intrest in the Unilink i thought i would ask him here!Originally Posted by AdReNaLiN
Christ AdReNaLiN, you got some sort of hate for Sony? If you read the post you will see that the sony link is already established but it is the getting info in and out of the PC to the link that i am concerned about and this Alpine stuff may be of some use.
Also - it seems Sony and Alpine use the same connectors on the back of their headunits - Anyone had any luck getting hold of the plugs (off the cables) as i don't fancy cutting an expensive cable up!
