Why not just get a griffin powermate? I did. It's plugged into my USB hub under the drivers side dash. Works great. Plus when I press down on the thing, it mutes. *****ing beautiful. I love it.

I like this way because I can use controls that came on the steering wheel from the factory, or I can use the volume buttons on the lilliput screen. Either way it will look like it came from the factory, and all the buttons will be in the same place and more accessible. Plus I save a USB port and buying another freaking USB extension. I was about to buy the powermate until I found this out, but I didn't know where to put the powermate. Having the volume controls at my fingertips is a priority for me, it doesn't make it so obvious that I am trying to tone my wife out.Quote:

(have a SB Live since last year... pretty cool machine)
I feel like a n00b now.
This warrants investigation. will have to look at the SB cards I have. ;)
I have a few cards here from Creative, so I will list the ones that do and don't have this on them by the Model Number as they are Audigy 2 and Audigy Cards.
Model:--------------------------------------------Volume CTRL Connector:
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SB0400 (EX I think, cheapo card)----------NO
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SB0240-----------------------------------NO
Sound Blaster Audigy---SB0090-----------------------------------YES
Sound Blaster----------CT4810-----------------------------------NO
These are the only cards that I have sitting out here at the office. Most of the ones that we ship now are the SB0400, which is the same as the Audigy 2 Value, I just found out.
again, i ask why not swi-x?
extra expense? usb hog?
The main reason why not an swi-x is because I have no idea what that is. Let me know and I may want to use it.Quote:

But then I also understood to where I would need something with a remote, which my sound blaster does, along with the TV tuner card, so I have a few options. But nsmoller you say you use it to switch between programs which I am sure is not on a remote. Someone better help quick before I mind starts to hurt. I have been absorbing way too much lately on all these subjects and having nightmares about my trunk being too small.
