It would be a bit impractical and uncomfortable to type on, I'd think.
I would like to see a 1/2 DIN motorized keyboard. If I could find one the right size, I'd build one. Hopefully someone can find a 7"x3" or so realtively thin keyboard. I would make it the opposite of the video screens so it would slide out and angle down instaed of up. There has got to be a way to do this.
Any ideas ?

I was thinking of the 80-key layout like the mini ones out there, but slightly smaller. I have a rubber one that is backlit now and it is about 8 1/2" x 3 1/4". I'll send pics of it later today.
typing in your dash is gonna be a pain in the a$$. Why don't you motorize a keyboard out of your center console or something, maybe have it articulate out from under your steering wheel.
there was a HP printer that had a similar keyboard that was flat and would probably fit your application you could most likely use parts from the spring loaded system it used too lemme find a piclinky
it can most likely be ported and you can buy this keyboard from HP for 75$ I think.
Hope this helps
