    cheapest serial infrared reciever?

    what is the cheapest serial infrared reciever for a remote?

    or plans for a cheap one

    i did do a search and didn't turn up to much i was hoping someone here knew of somewhere that sold them cheap

    and i can build one i looked at doing that but i would just prefer to buyone as to have to set down with the soldering iron

    i bought the creative infra remote online, cost me about 14 bucks total including shipping, you get the receiver and the credit card remote, if that is cheap for you then just get it instead of building your own. btw i tried it with girder and works like a charm.

    well i am only in need of a reciver atm as i plan on using a steering wheel remote but if i can ask where online did you purchase it from

    you could also wire one (non-IR) and connect it to the serial receiver...

    I am using this on a HTPC, and plan on using it on the sterring when I have a sterring with some buttons on it... Unless I drill some myself. That is still te be determined.

    thanks good idea but that won't work for me as i don't have any steering wheel buttons and no where on it to mount any that would look nice
