PhoneControl...
Does any one have experience with a software similar to this one...It can control winamp as well as windows media player thru bluetooth...I thought it would be a good idea just to use my cell phone to control basic functions of the carputer...or would it just be a better idea to get a IR device and use my existing radio remote?

No. He just wants you to pay for it.Originally Posted by Arathranar
I thought he killed it entirely - even the paid version. Last I heard he'd taken down the web site and announced the project was discontinued.

i cant believe people make you pay for software like that, a friend and i (ok mostly a friend) wrote a piece of software like that, i have since switched to fma http://fma.sourceforge.net/ because it does way more. Its not the best for car use though because its a large program

@Nic
It's mostly because of attitudes like yours that the project was cancelled.
So, you don’t believe people should be paid for their work if they want to? What do you do?

Plus it will be 2x cheaper than PhoneCo was.
Yeah, it truly sucks when people spends thousands of hours and a lot of their own money trying to do something good for the community and then they have the nerve to try and get a few bucks in return![]()
It's strange... as soon as there is anyone on a forum who comes up with a great piece of software everyone is entitled to support 24/7, instant bug fixes (no more than 30min after the initial bug-post), and it should always be free.
It seems everyone thinks that just because they're starting to charge a small sum everyone thinks they're going to be the next Bill Gates and that's with MY HELP !!! since I actually helped that guy with debugging his software.
I "know" this guy who wrote an amazing program for use on our motorcycles, does almost anything and a lot more than Dynojet's Powercommander, now he never gave it away to start with (good for him probably) but still people have a problem paying less for his program than PowerCommander (even thogh it does a lot more) just because it's "just some software and a cable".
So it seems that as soon as you "know" someone from a forum and it's a one man project, you're entitled to all the things I mentioned above...
