ps2 keyboard controller - brain pop

I've got a pug. it has stalk controls. which have common ground and 4 switches to perform 4 functions (vol up/down track up/down)

    I have a keyboard controller:

i have traced the films from this to produce this:

comparing the board to this pinout, you can see it using some kind of logic to pull apart the 8/2 and 6/4 duplicates on those two pins. however when looking at pin 7 (used for button "6" on the keypad) you can see it doesn't attach to the chip!! i've multimetered it, and cant find it connected to ANYTHING - theres that mysterious white line under pins 7 - 14 but it seems non conductive!!

Help?! is this just not going to interface or am i missing something really obvious?

Find a common track on the keypad, trace it back up and solder your common ground of the steering stalk to it.

Then trace four separate tracks (of the other film) back to the pins.

Don't try to do it separately from the film ..... use the film to trace back the tracks to the pins. I'm wondering if its quicker and easier for me to rip another old PS2 keyboard apart, solder some flyleads onto it to the numberpad keys and send it to you .... maybe easier than explaining it.

There is a quick tutorial here: http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade_input.shtml#General I'll try to find a better one.

    Oooooohhhhh. "pug" = "peugeot".

But wouldn't "peug" be more appropriate? Or does that sound too much like "puke" for "pug" owners?
