    Zippy vs. Winamp

I installed a Zippy keyboard today and it ran through all the normal driver installs , just the normal windows ones and the keyboard lit up and worked perfectly. I turned the computer off and it came back on and it worked, and then I put it in hibernate and it worked fine.

Then after that I opened Winamp to listen to music, and I went to type in a song, and the keyboard stopped responding, I opened up notepad and tried to type something and nothing worked. then i closed winamp, and it still didn't respond.

So i closed winamp and shut down the computer and unplugged the key board, and then plugged it back in, and then turned the computer back on, and it worked again, until I opened winamp, then it stopped responding again.

I've never seen this happen before with any of my other keyboards that i've used, just the zippy one. Anyone have any ideas, or know how to fix it? Thanks.

I have no idea what a Zippy keyboard is, but the first thing I would try is doing the same thing on another computer and seeing if it happens.

At least that way you can ascertain if it *is* actually the zippy keyboard or some conflict between it and some other driver on your Car PC.

Update: I tried to use the on screen keyboard that comes with windows to try to enter a song, and the same thing happened. It didn't respond when I opened Winamp. I tried all the buttons on screen and none of them worked. So this means something really wierd is happening. I'm going to try another keyboard tommorow and see if it is the actual computer not the keyboard. Anything sound familiar to anyone?

are you using a usb hub?? I've had my zippy become unresponsive due to being plugged into a usb hub, this would also explain the touchscreen input if that's plugged into the same hub.... now the question would be, is the winamp deal a coincidence? Hehe...

I've noticed that when one USB device misbehaves it often has an effect on others connected to my system. when I first installed my carputer my gps, touch screen and usb ethernet adapter would go on the fritz after a while for apperantly no reason. I ended up trying different combinations of driver versions and eventually I found a stable configuration. Also there is a legacy usb keyboard option in the bios. try switching that on and see if that works for you. mine is not completely cured but at worst my gps drops out everynow and then.

I was going to say maybe try reinstalling winamp for kicks. Only takes 2 seconds to install. Weird problem though...
