    This one came today.

One thing I don't like is the ball is a little loose. I'm planning on mounting this vertically on the shifter, so it makes a bit of a rattle. I used an o-ring and that helps but it's a little too fat. The ball is just a little too hard to move. Have to look around for a skinnier one.

    thats what I use,

They also make a wireless version that is a little bigger.
I should have bought dozens when they were $2 a piece.

If it works out, I'll have to pic up another one in case I need to replace it.

I'm going to mount it to my sporty shifter like so.

I'll put the trigger button somewhere else.

Does your trackball have the play in it?

Sweet, I have that same gamepad. Where do you get the joy to mouse software? I guess i could Thanks for the idea.

edit: Next to ripping apart a keyboard, you could easily rip apart a usb gamepad and convert it into a controller mounted in the dash.

edit:I need to stop reading these damn forums! before i know it i will have my car in pieces trying to get everything to fit.
Um, I guess this is where you put something witty.WITTY

no play in the trackball. If it sits in the sun, sometimes, it stalls side-side, but I just lick it (gross) and it works.

you may want to think about mounting the wireless one in the shifter, it might be easier.

I drive my P-Car like it's supposed to be driven and shift very often. I have had no difficulty shifting while holding the mouse.
I have also found that the bottom button is the best one for me to use as the left-click. It is essential in dragging things ( unless you use 2 hands )

I don't think I'll have a problem running the wires. On mine though, If I hold it sideways (track facing horizontal) or upside down, the ball wiggles a bit. It's not a real tight fit. Not a problem in normal operation. But for using it sideways it is. Just have to find a better sized o-ring.
