i've done it......its pretty easy.....depeneding on the touchpad component you have. If its standard the wires match up the same as they would on a regular ps2 mouse. There are 4 wires, you can look at it and usually tell that the biggest one is (usually) ground, and the second biggest is power. The other two are data.....if you find the pinout of a PS2 mouse....you can can wire up the power and ground, and then you have a 50% chance of getting the two datas right, if your wrong, no harm done.....just swap the two datas......just make sure you get the power and ground right.

I like to eraser tip better don't have to do anything just buy it plug it in to your mouse port and your done and its works great can't remember the last time I used my touch screen .
