Powermate, old driver versions?

So I've had my powermate from when they were first released several years ago and never really used it in my carpc install. This weekend I made a little dock for it in my dash and hvae been having problems with it. Rotating left and right is fine, I can set it to volume or track next/previous, etc; however the "click" and "long" click options cause the powermate to disconnect and then re-connect; also if you have the "click" option set it just repeats that click option constantly making hte computer near unusable. I'm using hte latest version available for WinXP (1.5.3). Should I go back to an older version driver? If so, anyone happen to have the version before this one?

Anyone had these problems or suggestions on how to fix it? Should I just buy a new one? It would suck because I so tightly integrated it into the dash (poor planning on my part).

Anyway, suggestions are welcomed.

Hopefully I'll have pics of the install up soon too--still need to bondo and paint the installed setup.

Ok, so no one responded, that's ok. I sort of had a feeling i needed to replace it anyway, so I did; now it works like a champ and I can finish my fabrication for my dash. Moral of the story.. when in doubt, buy a new one.
