    get safe

hack it up find out where unlock signal comes from
throw that into a timer relay (when given power the relay holds circut for predetermind amount of time)
    this arms a pushbutton start

then after 30 seconds it cancels the circut to the pushbutton start
if the car is on it stays on
if the car didnt start the start button wont work till fingerprint is done again...

    bla bla bla
Must have missed all your smilies, sorry.

It COULD work. If you end up getting the unti and hacking it apart, please let us know, so we can reverse engineer it.

If the fuel is turned off upon an event, then the fuel would be flowing during boot up. If the computer fails to boot, then fuel would still flow because the event, requiring a password, has not occured. However, turning the computer off/keeping it from booting would overcome the "event" and the car could be driven.

If the fuel is turned on upon an event, the carputer would need to boot in order to start the car. While that would keep it safe from thieves, because removing the computer would keep the car in operable, if the carputer fails to boot, then you could never start the car.

I don't think one could overcome the inherent problems with both systems, at least not with a computer alone.

I would think the fuel would be on and turned off with the computer, because that would require the least amount of invasion to the car itself. It would be MUCH easier to do this, than keep the fuel system off normally.

Actually, it is just a matter of if you connect the relay using 87 or 87a. The same wires are involved, and therefore, the same "invasion"

I think people are missin the obvious, thumb starting is bling and not a security feature.

If the machine crashes and wont boot then it can still be key started.

Thats how I would/will fit it.

I guess yur way is taking the "lockbox" mechanism and having it trigger a relay to start the car?

I must ask then why couldnt they unhook it from the relay and trigger it themselves? (Obviously yes they have to figure it out and what's going on..)

Not putting you down, trying to flesh out the idea more.

or you can just hire someone to sit in your parked car with that handgun thats in that safe.

if you put that reader in a place where joe theif couldnt get to, easially, and then shiled the wire in either metal flex conduit, or through things like air condition ducts.

you could put a cut out switch behind the glove box or the like for a socalled "valet mode"

i think its a pretty cool idea. if i had the money id try it.
