Siemans ID mouse, need I say more.
thanks, just been and read it but it went nowhere, well as far as trying use/buy custom hardware.
I still think the id mouse is the way, its cheap, available, and has windows software to interface to other programs.
That can work both ways etc if it can talk to other software, other software can talk to it, but I am not a windows programmer so over to the others.
Haven't done a search yet, but this project would be MUCH easier and more reliable if the thumb print device itself was programmable, so it wouldn't have to be connected to the computer to work. You could just hook it up to the computer when you need to program your thumbprint into it, then from there, it just triggers a relay whenever it sees your thumb.

But really, while perhaps no one has done it yet (which might be telling in and of itself) the idea has been talked about A LOT.

Yes I can see waiting for XP to boot before starting a problem.......
But once booted it would be a good trick, and I suppose thats it, its a trick not a feature.

rather then having it start the car, how about you disable a timed sequence for killing the feul supply. If the car is put into gear (a relay controller board could sense this) then it could start a 1 minute shutdown sequence. If you dont press your finger to the board and get identified, then the realy controller could cut off your feul supply. Also, if you wanted to disable this functionality, it would be as simple as disabling that program/computer from running. If a thief gets into your car he probably wont know you have a computer in there right away.
