nobody finds the ability to make anything into a touch sensitive surface the least bit intriguing?
sorry for posting this twice, but i thought someone would be intruiged in the hardware section, mabey someone in the input device section will find this interesting
does anyone know of any other manufacturers of something like this? i remember seeing a ton before, but i dont remember what my query was to find them lol... also has anyone tried this before? i was thinking of putting it on the steering wheel, winshield, ttops, dash, etc etc... who knows? depending on how cheap/expensive it is.

I think it looks very interesting. No need to cut any holes. If you had a corner where two pieces of plastic meet with just the slightest gap, it would be perfect, and looks like it could be covered with a thin plastic sheet to hide it, or may even work if it were placed behind/inbetween something existing if it's thin enough (2mm).
i emailed them today and found they are 100 each
Length: 83.73 mm (3.375 inches)
Width: 62.87 mm (2.475 inches)
i dunno if thats worth it LOL.
i think im going to get their desktop one
ps2:$59.95
usb:$64.95
ive seen them on ebay for 30 or so
Device area: 4.0 x 4.4 x 0.4 inches
and see if i cant take it apart and use it like the other one
i was also wondering about those touchscreen addons. has anyone tried to take one apart and use it NOT on a screen?

A touchscreen may be a little harder to use. They are designed to go directly to a position and left-click for each touch. I mean, you could rewrite the driver, but I don't think it's worth it.
If discrete touch sensors is enough (rather than a continuous surface like that pad) you can get touch controller chips for around $5 and embed touch electrodes under just about anything non-conductive. There's an active thread about them right now in the hardware dev forum.
That flexible touch pad is pretty cool, but for $100, eh...![]()
You need custom software, but a driver is a bit overkillOriginally Posted by Curiosity

i HAVE todo thisso im gonna keep looking for a touchscreen addon or even a manufacturer of custom touchscreen junk to see if i can just get the parts and put this together myself
mushin, i see you are kinda into this stuff, what happend to those touchpads u were talking about a while ago? how big were they, etc etc...

The touchpads were what you'd expect in a laptop, roughly 3" x 2". "etc etc..."? What else would you like to know?I've still got some if you want one, if you're handy with an iron it sure beats paying $30 on ebay.
do u have any pics? how much are you charging, and would it be possible to matrix them together?im very handy with an iron, and more handy with an assembler
