    external volume control

Hello all i found a inexpensive usb volume control ($4.95 e-bay) i have taken a dell sk-8135 keyboard and removed the audio/volume controls and also the 2 external usb ports. these all function without the keyboard ribbon plugged in so i am going to mold this into my new dash panel so i will have complete backlit multimedia controls with 2 external usb ports at my fingertips.

Cool, nice thinking if you've got one of those keyboards lying around anyways..

Make sure you post completed pics.

I am considering hooking up a griffin powermate for scrolling (tapped the steering wheel controls for volume, not sure what I'll use the station setting for yet, maybe quick function keys.

not sure what that's all about, but...

i found myself one of the keyboards you pulled these guts out of. quick question, do you know how to customize some of the buttons? for example, do you know how to change what application launches when you press the music notes?

Sorry to revive an old thread. I've ordered a Dell multimedia keyboard (New Dell Multimedia Keyboard TH836 DJ425 on ebay $13 w/shipping) to try and use the media buttons to control my car pc. I was wondering if you guys ever succeeded? Have any issues? I had a dell keyboard in the past with the buttons and they worked great, but it was the model prior to this one (media buttons arranged in a circle around the knob) which I believe was a bit more heavy-duty.
