USB Camera with led sensing darkness

I've got a usb camera that has LEDs that light up automatically when the camera detects darkness. I'd like to be able to disable that feature or enable it on demand. The camera I'm using is this one:

Do I need to break out my soldering iron or my wallet and buy one that will do what I'd like it to do?

I have a similar cam. If u go to the device properties u should be able to change the device settings like mines. I have three options for the infrared.. Auto, on, or off. I leave mines on auto and have no issues.

Did u install all the software and drivers that came with it?
