yeah, some monitors even have an auto switching feature, where if a 12v is sent to it (say you ptu the car in reverse and you send the reverse lights power to eh screen) it will switch to the camera view, then back again when the 12V goes.

if my computer goes through vga, and the camera goes through rca, do i just push the button on the monitor to switch inputs?

But yes...if there is not an auto switch there is a button on the monitor (or remote) to switch inputs.

Your options are Cheesebox, PIC board, or sending the composite signal into the computer and somehow getting the reverse signal detected by the computer also.
