I have a Microsoft USB game controller with momentary buttons that I would like to hard wire into my stock steering wheel buttons. The problem is how do I tell windows XP when I hit button B to turn up the volume? Any simple download app out there? If I cant find anything I will try to hack up my keyboard because it has volume controls but I much rather use the controller considering it is never used and small. Any help?

I dont know if it will work with what you have, I have a cheap usb gamepad.
I also wrote it to drive the mouse, and to reduce the volume to 30% if button y or some button was held down, plan was to stick that on a relay from the interior light, so opening a door at night didnt blast everyone with abba......
If you want I'l start a search for it.

Unfortunately I found out my steering controls are on some crazy three wire resistance type system so I am out of luck on interfacing to them as of now. Thanks for the replies though, it irritates me so much when I cant get something to work the way I want it!
3 wires? usb will need 4(almost)
0v
d+
d-
5v
emm it might work, 1 of the wires for 5v, the other two for d- and d+ for the usb pad/chip, gnd it on anything metal........
