Check the properties and make certain that it's not set to turn off hte device to save power. I've seen this option on a lot of devices and I absolutely hate it.
That may or may not be your problem, but it's certainly worth a shot.
after about 3mins of leaving it still, itll freeze on me...then id have to restart the computer to get it to work again or disable/enable device to get it to work....anyone has this problem or know how to fix it?

ahh..got my hopes up..but that wasnt the problem...
anyone?
mine did that too.
i found out that using a shorter usb cable everything works perfect.
initial i had a 6 meters long usb cable...
mine does that too, but I havn't figured out the problem yet
well, I thought I had fixed the problem by reinstalling windows and turning off winxp's power management of the USB devices.
I took a 3 hour drive without a problem, and then a few days later, 15 minutes into driving the touch screen froze. I had regular mouse that I plugged, and went into device manager. Apparently, the touch screen became an "Unkown Device" under USB devices. Disabling and renabling (which required a reboot) fixed it.
Anyone know why it would do this? I'm using TinyXP rev05 with XP embedded and havent had a problem otherwise
Mine does something similar.
Might be a long shot but see if the usb plugs move when they are pluged in. I have a motorised screen that isn't properly secured (because its moving soon). Whenever I go over speed bumps... the touch screen wont work.
I might try fabricating some sort of fastener or something similar to the plug used for the monitor.
I thought that at first, because all I have to do is reboot mine. I started playing around with the wires and noticed a bit of movement in the usb plugs. Only a tiny ammount though. Tried to do something on the screen after wiggling the usb plug and nothing happens.
Worth a nosey
