maybe a picture of the cable itself would help. Do you know if that cable allows the screen to accept RCA inputs too?
Hello all!
I recently bought a touchscreen very cheap because it's been used as a demo-ex.
When i recieved i noticed the most important cable was missing, the vga/usb-cable.
I contacted the company that used this screen, but they could'nt help me out with that cable![]()
Anyway, i thought this to be some kind of unbranded Lilliput-screen and ordered a cable fitting lilliput, but did it fit? Oh no, not at all...
The little cable from my screen is a 8-pin mini din female, and obviously the lilliputcable was nothing like that. (9pin mini din female)
So, can someone please have a look at my screen and hopefully tell me the brand, and perhaps even tell me where to get a cable?

Images are quite heavy, so please be patient.
Thanks in advance!

Well, the RCA is taken care of by a "usb"-slot on the side.
That "usb"cable has 4 plugs, 1 video (yellow) , 2 audio (red and white) and 1 power.
The cable i need is as said an round 8pin minidin female that splits to VGA and USB...
Hmm,,, unsure wheater the power goes trough that cable as well..
I will use a better camera tomorrow so there will be more details.
Edit:
I'm stupid. The cable i need is NOT an female, it's a male plug that i need.
So, Male 8pin minidin that splits to vga/usb and probably power as well...
A description of a typical Lilliput cable. Lilliput does have 8 pins and 9 pins cable (if I remember correctly).Originally Posted by eriklar
Does that 8 pin connector a screw type or just push in?
Contact Armen at digitalww dot com to see if he has a spare one. I am sure he can help you out.

Hmm..
I did a search on the serialnumber on the lcd-screen, and came up with a brand named HAMI.
Is this a manufacturer och whole tft-screens, or just only the lcd itself?
I also have a 7" LCD with an 8-pin mini-DIN connection. It was given to me in trade for networking services. I got the network running, but a year later I'm still trying to find the composite/power cable for this thing. I've asked my customer where they got it. It was purchased from a seller on eBay. I can't find any information on it LCD vendors on eBay.
I contacted Eely, the actual hardware manufacturer (there is a screen shot in the manual that has their name and logo). They were unable to help as they didn't finish the product.
More Googling let me to a company called Xenarc. They took a look at pictures of my screen and weren't able to identify it as anything they have sold.
Even more Googling led me here. Erik's screen looks a lot like mine, although the cables are a bit different. It has an attached USB and VGA cable. The trouble is I can't get power to the thing. I think it is fed through the 8-pin connection along with the composite connections. I plugged it into my PC, which detected the new hardware, but that was the extent of it. The LCD didn't light, and the PC didn't say what kind of hardware it found.
I've opened the unit with grand ideas that I could just make a cable, but there aren't any obvious markings on the PCB and I chickened out. I'd rather not be able to use it because of a missing power cable than because I blew something up.
Please take a look at it here: http://www.ihpww.com/MysteryLCD.pdf (300k PDF) and see if you know who made/marketed this unit in the US.
Thanks,
TrevDog
Well...looks like I can answer at least part of your question...I have that screen (or one very much like it). The connections and packaging appear almost identical. Here's some basic info to get you started...
- The power and composite connections are fed through the 8pin DIN connector.
- The screen runs on 12VDC, but you probably already knew that from the label on the back.
- 1024x768 (max resolution)
- USB touchscreen: The touchscreen connects to your computer using the USB plug, but requires drivers to function properly, which is likely why your computer didn't recognize the device.
The screen is sold here at the mp3car.com store (which you can navigate to from the main mp3car.com page).
Look in the LCD section of the store (obviously).
I can likely help with the pinout info you would need to make a cable to power the screen. Let me know (i.e. post here) if you are interested.
Finally, do you have any pics of the inside of the screen? If not, can you tell me if it was difficult to disassemble/any tricks to the job? I have been contemplating a backlight upgrade but have been afraid to disassemble the screen to figure out whether or not it would be feasible.

Well, TrevDog and i seems to have quite similar screens, atleast he has the cord i'm missing
TrevDog, isn't there a hole for power on the side of your screen?
I will put up some new, better images of my screen where you can see the side of the screen.
The side of my screen.

Notice the hole for power. 12volts from a trafo.
Also here you have the "usb", which you connect rca/composite to...

Hello again...
I havenīt been able to locate any cable for my screen
I have found similar screens on Ebay, but they are still a bit "of"...
For example this: link to ebay
Anyway...
I disassembled the screen to see if there were any parts that i could google on, or at least find a pinout-scheme for the connection.. but no luck..
So, once again, could someone look at my images of the boards in the screen and see if they recognize them? and perhaps come up with a pinout-scheme for connecting vga and usb?
