Microsoft IR keyboard
Has anyone used this before?
I just picked it up and have it set up in my car and its actually really nice. it has a little mouse joystick (takes some getting used too) with the L/R mouse buttons, standard keys so its fairly slim, a bunch of lighted hotkeys which are perfect for the car PC. It uses IR to transmit which is actually nice when you throw it in the back seat only for something to roll onto the keys and start changing tracks on the computer (line of sight). Plus it even has a little lock switch to disable ALL the keys as well. Seems pretty nice, i havent seen anyone mention it here so thats all im really doing, just informing of a cool new toy out there for us. The only thing thats retarded is it doesnt come with an IR reciever, luckily i had one laying around.
screw infra red, go with bluetooth.
get the microsoft bluetooth elite......or any bluetooth keyboard....you will be MUCH happier than if you went with IR. IR sucks!
hmm, interesting, i seem to be happy with it
thanks for the heads up tho
Ok i just looked uo the bluetooth elite your talking about and its huge and its has a seperate mouse. the one i mentioned is all one unit, FYI
personally looking for something like what IBM laptops use, the little red nipple thing. want to drill that into my steering wheel. muche better as i've chosen to go the Non-touchscreen route.
haha, i was thinking of that as well but into my center console

I personally have a Philips IR keyboard that I got for $20. I may get one with a mouse built in, but I figure with touchscreen and mounted touchpad, that's overkill.
Bluetooth is also overkill, especially the Microsoft kit. If you really want a nice keyboard, get the newer Gyration stuff.
