any recommendation for a good sub $100 WATERPROOF backup camera (license plate mountable) ??
CAR: 2007 G35 Sport Coupe 5AT
HARDWARE: Dell D630 w/ dock, internal 80G HD, internal 320G HD, Verizon Wireless Card, iBlue GM-2 GPS w/iGuidance, OBDPros w/DashCommand, Visteon HD Radio w/ Home Made Cable, Current Version of RR w/ DFX Skin. My Install.
How does that one compare to the Audiovox one ?
I have the one from the Amazon link. It works good, but I can't compare it to any others since this was my first. My only complaint is after 6 months or so the black wears off and you are left with dirty metal/chrome looking camera.

How did you install it ? I'm looking at the pictures of wires that come with Boyo VTL420 and they do not make much sense to me. My understanding is that the camera will get power from reverse light but this camera comes with a long *** wire which has as small attachment for video out and power. Also what is this red/black wire thing in the second picture ?

The the wire of second picture is used for cheching current or voltage. Clip the alligator clip to the iron car body and check the electric current or voltage with the needle of red wire. If there is electric current or voltage the LED will be turned on.
You can also use general USB camera for rearview like this post if carputor is mounted.

That's a software solution, which is kinda useless for me because I do not always have carputer running when I start my car to get out of the driveway.
