    External Slimline DVD enclosure

Well as I have and I have found that plenty of people are having the same problem as I am having. My toshiba DVD drive does not work correctly. When the drive is connected (via USB) directly ot the PC with a 10ft USB cable the drive just blinks and XP doesnt read it. IT does the same exact thing when it is connected to my USB HUB. As you can see in my picture my drive is fabricated into my dash bezel and it would be a realy pain in the *** to remove the drive:

What I have done to try and correct the problem:

    • Next I tapped off of my OPUS' 5V line and ran it to the drive. That KIND OF worked but it would read it then it would stop responding.

    • The last thing i have done was to connect a 5v to an Opus POL and it did the same thing as the last.

So What should I do next? Can it be the drive? Or should i try a different enclosure?

That looks like a slot-load in your bezel rather then the "tray-load" in the link.

Check to make sure there is no power connection or line next to the usb wire that is giving it interference. That would do it alot of time too

I have the cable wrapped around my VGA extension cable wrapped with some TechFlex. I dont think it is the power wires causing it cuz i put a brand new direct USB 10ft cable it still didnt work....BUT when i was test benching everything in my house i used like a 3ft cable and it worked perfectly....
