run the drive off of your psu's +12v line not the cars unregulated +12v
I am going to be buying this enclosure and putting a 750gb hard drive in it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3560&rd=1&rd=1 I know this enclosure works at 12v, so I can basically run positive and ground to it after I take off the power jack. My question is.... would it hurt this enclosure or the hard drive I put in it since we all know that "normal" car voltages are around 13-14V. I would assume to say that it would not because it probably has some sort of voltage regulator inside, but that can be nullified because they would probably think that one would only use a recommended power supply @ 12V with it. What do you guys think?
Also, while I have you guys' attention, I was thinking about this keyboard/mouse. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...9113&rd=1&rd=1 What do you guys think?

DarquePervert.... I am in Dallas too. Maybe we can meet up sometime when I get my truck done.... but anyways.... can't I just wire it directly to accessory?
Does anyone know if I would be OK to run this enclosure straight off the car's 12V line? Does it regulated internally or can I just add a 7812 to my car's 12V line and make it a regulated 12V?
you HAVE to supply 12v REGULATED, unless you don't like that drive very much...
MY NEWEST INSTALL:modded infiniti fx with big screen
first windows carpc install........my liquid cooled LVDS screen :D
So does that mean that I can just throw a 7812 voltage regulator on there and that would be ok?
