Hauppage tv tuner + car antenna = works?

I was doing some searching on the forums and came across the fact that I some have connected their antenna to the hauppage usb tvtuner to get radio. How good is this sound quality? My lexus es300 uses the entire rear defroster which doubles as an antenna so I'm hoping it gets good signal but wanted to inquire to those that have done it already.

Also, if I use a hauppage tv tuner.. can I control the stations by road runner? and if so how? I did some searching but I think i'm searching the wrong keywords or something.

    thanks in advance.

I don't think you want to hook your antenna up to the rear defroster. Just sounds like a bad idea.
    Failure is not an option....

It's installed by default on every version of Windows.

All Lexus 2001 es 300's are already wired this way. The defroster doubles as an antenna which is why you dont see those cars with a sharkfin or antenna.

spiike, are you certain that the defroster "doubles" as an antenna? its very possible the the antenna is imbedded in the window glass, but not very likely it is the same unit as the actual defroster grid. just something you might want to be certain of.

You may be right. Technical term is lexus FM diversity antenna. I would take a picture but my tints will not show the antenna well. It's embedded in the glass and the sales person had said it was same as the defroster, which is where I got the idea from.

    Whats an FM Amp?
Is that like a signal booster for the FM signal,... i guess it would sit between the antenna and the USB Receiver?
    Is it a powered device?
