floating keyboard

Could anyone suggest a good touchscreen keyboard without any front ends, where it would popup when either i press a feild to type and double click it, or press mouse button in some way.

Windows has one as part of the OS.
I've never used it, so I don't know how 'good' it is, though. You can bring it up with Start > Run > OSK

A quick Google for XP OSK found this: virtual Keyboard 1.0

Well even on my 10.4" TS the Windows OSK is a pain to use... so you might want to find a better alternative. The VirtualKeyBoard at post 109 in the link DP gave looks/works pretty good

Yeah the keys on the windows OSK are too small... Maybe there is some option/hack to make them bigger but by default they are too small.

OSKs are pretty bad anyway... Id opt for a bluetooth/RF/USB/PS2/IR keyboard (in that order -- IR last because I imagine it'd miss keystorkes)

when ever you select any field that allows text input a small button will appear under your mouse, click it and the OSK starts

The company that created this went bellyup a while ago, and there site is nolonger online www.carnavsys.com
the app was free when they were around incase anyone wanted to know.
