I hope it's not too late to dig up this thread. I am curious what the overall height is without the base, like it's mounted there in the most recent picture.

Just to second the last request can I also ask for measurements of the height without the base (from the top of the stick to the bottom of the black ring with '3dconnexions' on it)..
I want to get one but I'm not sure if it will be too tall for where I need to place it.

In the hope that it will help someone else here is the measurements for the height spacenavigator from the bottom of the black rim to the very top of the domed handle.
I bit the bullet and just ordered one since I couldn't find the information anywhere

3.4 ~ 3.5 cm

reviving this thread again.. has ANYONE successfully changed the led's on this unit yet. My rsx has an all red glow to it at night. No way i'm putting a big blue circle in the middle of all that lol.

Yeh I've done mine, changed them to orange - looks pretty sweet now it matches the glow from the rest of the car.
You will need 6x 603 SMD Led's and a hot soldering iron

Actually, if you mess around with the sensitivity adjustment, the dead zones and the min/max settings, it's pretty easy to isolate the movement and be sure that moving the control in one axis doesn't affect the others. I have it working really well as a mouse in one layout and and as key commands in JRiver Media Center.

This spacenavigator opens quite easy,
but does anybody know how to open the spacetraveler ? there are no screws on the bottom like the spacenav does ...

Bringing this thread back up... Saw there was some progress on isolating the axis'... can this unit be used like the iDrive except where pushing/tilting the knob would replace the four buttons?
