StreetDeck should eventually support it. Because of StreetDeck’s QA processes and the political nature of assigning new features a priority for development it won’t surprise me if other front ends support it before StreetDeck.

It just much more then just a Phidget. They are both encoders but the phidget is an input only device and this Immersion encoder is both an input and output device with feedback to the user's fingers.

I already contacted me/be sources, I'll see what I can dig up for BMW too... so far all indications seem that they sell it as a whole module & major bucks...

what knobs have you found over $50? I'm looking at everything for a good knob... haven't found the right thing yet... I've seen some nice knobs on some high end receivers & was thinking I might be able to do something there if there available as service parts maybe... , I'm looking at appliances too

Well I asked Immersion where they got their knob for their demos and they said they had them custom machined at a cost of $50 each - so that's where that figure came from. I've found some instrumentation knobs, but they look like they belong in the control room of a nuclear power plant.

As one of our engineers here put it:

It is interesting that so many knobs look 50's vintage. It's almost as if there was one guy designing cool new knobs and he died in 1959. ;-)

i wonder if you got one of the custom machined knobs then made a mold and reproduced them in acrylic?

I was considering making a knob, but I'd rather find something.. I see a lot of industrial looking stuff, I've had my eyes open for a knob for a long time, I found one that was perfect, except for the huge set screw bored right into the side

the one on there site looks exactly like the bmw idrive knob

I think if you contact a workshop with cnc tools, they should be able to create a knob within a reasonable cost range (given that you provide the cad drawing).

How would you go on to add the missing axis? Mounting it onto a "flipping" surface; kinda like a plate with 4 switches underneat it to create the missing axis?

Does this device come with sample software or is it only hardware interface?

Is it still in preorders? On the webshop it says "in stock".

If those knobs were made by Bosch/Blaupunkt, there is a slight possiblity I might be able to find the BMW idrive knob/or mercedes. I am going to check with my sources and see if someone can help us.
