Pioneer CD-RB20

Hi all,

I've just signed up as I'm rather confused by my new CD-RB20.

I have connected it all up,

IP-BUS connector to HU, CD changer connector into the RB20.
Battery live in and battery live out to CD changer.

I then try and play the aux source, however to do this I have to select the CD changer source and it therefore plays not only the aux source but also the CD changer source.

It says in the instructions that it will do this and to mute the aux in, however what if I want to listen to the aux in and not the CD changer?

I've also tried disconnecting the CD changer, both power and IP-BUS and it then cant select the aux source.

How on earth do I listen to my new Zen MP3 player without listening to a CD?

It says about selecting 'AUX' from the source menu, but there isn't this option.

Unfortunately the HU (Pioneer KEH-9200) came with the car and I dont have a manual, nor can I find a manual in English on the net.

Does anyone have any idea how to sort this? I have searched on here and there's talk of a 'hack' but I have no idea what this is all about.

Hope somebody can help...

The aux source is not in the menu options as standard, you have to enable it.

I have a manual for my pioneer somewhere, I 'll try and find it.

But from memory you need to hold the function button down for about three seconds and then you get into a settings menu, where you can change certain things. one of those will be to activate the AUX source. (you can also give it a name other than AUX. eg I changed it to carputer, not original I grant you).

I just went out and tried that.... held it down and nothing happens.
I tried it with the HU on and off (I found something elsewhere which suggests you do it with the HU off).

Absolutely nothing.

I must be missing something...

Ok, just found this:

But it doesn't seem to work for me.

Yep that link basically shows the same as my manual.

It does work on mine.

Try going onto the pioneer site, if you register you should be able to get a PDF manual for your system.

Oh balls.

I spent ages playing with the HU this morning trying to get the aux enabled, however i have just realised I've somehow disabled the sub... no idea how to turn it back on tho!

Soooo need a manual for this stupid HU.

Edit: Sorted it now.. seems I need to hold down the audio button while on the sub frequency menu, and it turns it on/off. I tried looking for similar manuals but I think the bloody HU is one of a kind and I'm really not sure the manual exists anywhere.

Just to update, this problem looks like it's been rectified.

I phoned up pioneer this morning and asked them for the manual. Within 5 mins I recieved it in pdf form via email!

I looked up how to activate aux mode, and for some reason it's totally different to all the other pioneer HUs.
I had to switch the HU off, hold down the '7' button (normally used to select CD #7) and then switch the HU on by putting the ignition on.

Sure enough, I now have an aux option on the source scroll menu. Excellent.

All I have to do now is figure out how to take the glovebox out to stow the RB20 somewhere... oh, and make an oe looking cradle for my Zen in what was previously the cigarette lighter...

oh, and also make up a 5v limited circuit to supply the zen with power so it's auto charge when playing...

Dammit, why did I even think about doing this, it's far too much like hard work.
