can ELO TC overlay be used for handwriting recognition ?

I want to use my ELO 10.4" 5 wire tc overlay on a laptop for taking notes etc like tablet pc.

Can a tc overlay be used as a handwriting recognition if I use a pda stylus or something and appropriate software (I dont know which software to use yet)?

The 5 wire ELO panel is not sensitive enough for handwriting recognition.
A digitizer would be best.

not for XP recognition, but there are programs that can take it in as a palm does with that little pad and gets a letter. Not english recognition, but mobile writing such as where a "k" is an greek lower case alpha symbol and such.

It would be a pain though because you wouldn't be able to touch it as you can with a digitizer.

You may want to look at the ramline 510 tablet. I have seen them on ebay for about 120.00
They have a 10.4" lcd with digitizer. I have not opened one up, so I am not sure, but you may be able to take the digitizer panel and controller and use it on another screen. But, if the controller is embedded you would be sol.
